In the summer of 1999, I was in a clothing store in the Atlanta, Georgia area. There was a drawing to win an iMac. A couple months later when I was back in Baltimore, I found out that I had one a blueberry iMac! This actually altered my life a lot. For one, I wasn't that interested in computers before this. Sure, I was one of the first people at my school to start using the internet in 1994 when it was still uncommon. But I didn't care much about the programs on the computer or anything other than just signing onto AOL. I found that even using basic, common applications was a huge headache and I just didn't really "get" computers, how they worked, why they behaved in a certain way, and why they kept crashing, haha! Getting an Apple computer changed all that. I found out I was just not into Windows but I immediately took a liking to my iMac and the Mac OS (which was OS 8 at the time). I started using programs on there and learned a lot about computers and eventually ended up taking classes in college in Interactive and Graphic Design. I am now majoring in Information Technology at school. I use my computer for many different reasons now, including recording my music. Being comfortable with this technology has changed me personally and professionally. Having a better grasp at the Mac OS helped me to eventually become better at understanding Windows as well. I still need to become familiar with Linux but that will happen in the not-too-distant future as I have to take a course in school on this anyway.
It just goes to show you that little things can alter your life. If I had decided to not enter that contest or not even go to that store at all, I would not have won the computer and who knows what I would be majoring in at school right now, if anything.

All the pics in this post are shots I yoinked from the internet. There wasn't much sense in me taking my own since it's the same thing.
As you can see, it's not that big of a phone. But not too small to the point where it's annoying or hard to use. It's not much bigger than a regular flip phone. (I had a razr and it's about the same dimensions, only slightly thicker). And it's smaller and thinner than the original enV. (And, of course, has more features and can save more texts).
My only complaint so far about my phone is really more a complaint about Verizon - which is that their software cripples the phone for Macs. There were more features I could have synced between my Razr and iMac if I had the non-Verizon version. But at least with the Razr, I could sync my contacts through bluetooth. I can't even do that with the enV 2. I can get my computer to recognize it, but all I can do with it is use my phone's connection to go on the internet. I can't sync my contacts through bluetooth and I was hoping I could sync my calendar, but I can't. That sucks. I like Verizon overall except for their seemingly anti-Mac ways. There might be some hacks that come out eventually, but I haven't been able to find anything yet. This is probably because the phone is new.
It was between this, the Samsung Alias, or a Moto Q. I'm happy with my choice so far.
If I had ATT&T and more money, I would have just gotten the iPhone, of course.
Edit: June 21, 2008, 12:31 PM - I figured out how to exchange information via bluetooth to my mac. :) Yay. I just found that it's done differently than with my Razr phone. I can exchange files such as music and photos and I can import or export the contacts by sending a Name Card that will then add to my Address Book. That's different than syncing it but I'm still glad the option exists. I can send a vCal file for each of my calendar events. When I click on the vCal files, they open up iCal, but iCal won't recognize it yet. So I just change the .vcs extension to an .ics extension (by simply typing .ics at the end where in place of .vcs) and it works in iCal.

I didn't intend to convert my mom to Macs but I did. She saw how I could plug in things and they would just work. Yet we'd install driver software for her hardware and there were still problems. She also loves how the mac mini is so small that it fits on her desk.
We went to the Apple store and we ended up getting her a Mac mini. She loves it. She was so excited to get it. I don't think I have ever seen her act that giddy before, haha. It was cute.

Pictures of my iMac 
I got my shiny new aluminum iMac on Sunday and I love it! I haven't had a chance to fool around with it as much as I would like because of my schoolwork. But what I have done on it so far rocks. My other computer needed a ton of upgrades to it. So this computer runs much quicker. And there were a bunch of people's MySpace profiles I could never go on because they had waayy too much crap on it and it took such a long time to load. It loads in seconds on this computer. The glossy screen and its graphics are top notch. The graphics on my old eMac were still great but this is fantastic. You can see all these details. I watched part of an episode of "Prison Break" I got from iTunes on it and it looks and sounds much better than the TV downstairs. It feels like I'm watching a movie. The built-in speakers rock. My friends would comment when they came over that the speakers on my eMac were really good. But this is even better than that. There are songs that I have heard for years and now I am hearing them in a whole new way. There are little background sounds that I never heard before, even when it was blasted through loud speakers at dance clubs. The remote control is convenient for when I want to listen to music but I'm not sitting down at my desk. And it looks and feels like the first generation iPod shuffles, which is cute.
I started messing around a little bit in GarageBand, but I still have more to figure out. So far, I think it's great. And Photobooth rocks. I can see why people who have it constantly take pictures of themselves in it, haha. I was finally able to download and use NeoOffice. That helped me with my school project. Appleworks transferred successfully from my eMac and it works just fine under Leopard, which is something I was wondering about (since Apple is no longer making AW) and couldn't find an answer to before making my purchase.
After I buy a firewire hard drive, it's going to be awesome to use Time Machine.
I really like the fact that the screen is 20" and widescreen, yet the computer takes up a lot less room on my desk. It weighs a lot less and is so much easier to carry for whenever I move again. The thin keyboard is cool and it even feels kind of good on the fingertips when typing.
There are a bunch of other things that rock about it, including the Leopard operating system. But I won't bore you anymore with the geeky details. After all, those of you who care already know about that.
I'm really glad I have it because during the Winter Break, I will have the opportunity to work on my music with it. And when school starts back up, it'll be a lot better for doing my work. Plus, even goofing around on it will be better.

I stood in line for the release of Leopard Friday after work. I did not realize there was going to be a line wrapped around the railing in front of the Towson store. I didn't buy Leopard because (as I've mentioned before) I'm buying a computer in a few months that will come preloaded with it. But I wanted to check it out and I wanted my free shirt!
While I was in front of the store waiting to get in, I started talking to a hot guy who seemed nice. He was also there for the free shirt. He bought the iPhone the evening it came out. He has more Apple stuff than I do. He seemed to have a good personality. Why don't I meet guys like him more often? Oh, that's right. Because I hang out in "the scene". I did not get his contact information. And it dawned on me later that my internet dweeb-ness would not be such a bad thing. I mean, if he is tech savvy, then chances are he has a myspace/facebook/friendster/.mac/ichat/a
I will probably never see him again. Well, maybe he'll be at the next "stand in line" event Apple has. Haha.
By the way, the shirt I have looks decent on me. I didn't know it was going to be as nice as it was. I thought it might be a white t-shirt that was made so cheaply, it was see-through. But it's not a super cheap shirt. I realize I'm going to be a free walking advertisement for Apple now. But I make an exception for them.

I'm a Mac. I'm a PC.
I want one of the new iMacs so badly. Not only are the computer and new keyboard amazing, but the new software Apple has released is awesome. I played around with that at the Apple store this past weekend and it made me wish I had the money so I could go home with one.
I'm planning on buying one in October. That's when I estimate I'll have the money and that's when Leopard (OS X 10.5) comes out anyway.
I might post video blogs here and there after I get the computer. It comes with iSight and iMovie, so that I can do all that. Yeah, I have a digital video camera now but it's crappy. What do you think? Should I make a video post here and there after I get the computer? Or do you find video blogs annoying?
What's funny is I somehow ended up on Dell's mailing list. I got one of their catalogs in the mail today. I'm thinking that maybe my school sold them my information. I can't think of how else I got on there.

The first computer is an Apple iMac G4. The second one is the latest iMac available: it has an Intel Core 2 Duo processor. (This looks almost the same as the iMac G5).
I know the newer version is a much better computer. I know that the newer version also takes up less space and is more practical. But judging each computer strictly for its looks only, I like the G4 better. I think it's a prettier piece of furniture. Does that sound weird? When I first saw the design of the G5, I was thinking "Wow, that's amazing how they can fit the whole computer in such a small space. But it doesn' t look as cool".
In the end, that doesn't matter, though. I'd much rather have the newer one.

In late June, the iPhone hit the US market. Apple is finally coming out with a PHONE! YAYYYYYYY. It even has safari browser. I mean this looks even better than I expected for just a cell phone. The interface seems very similar to the OSX for the Apple COMPUTERS. The software looks way more advanced than the ipod's. I can't wait to find out more.
